We can so easily allow self-pity to seep into our hearts. When we feel lonely or crave someone to love and be loved by, it seems we have every reason in the world to complain, to sulk angrily because we’ve recieved a bum deal.
But do we really have a reason to complain when we consider the Cross?
-I Kissed Dating Goodbye
I was listening to the radio last night, and heard the song Eternally Grateful. One lines of the chorus said,
“I’m eternally grateful for the everlasting life I’ve recieved, eternally grateful, eternally grateful…”
I began to think, what reason do I have to feel self-pity? The Lord has given me so much! Least importantly, He has given me material possesions, but also eternal life! A glorious home away from this wretched, broken world.
A home with HIM!
How much more, then, should I be willing to serve my family, and serve them with a joyful spirit, knowing that I am really serving Him Who gave His own life for me on that cross?
