It’s like the colors of a painting. The black clouds are oppressive by themselves, but when the brilliant hues of a sunrise are added to the picture, the painting is striking. The black clouds of our lives are not pleasant, but when we can see the whole picture in eternity, we will understand just why God put them there. We will see that it is the dark clouds that accent the rose and lavender of the sunrise.
God did not promise that every circumstance would be pleasant, but that all the circumstances would work together for an ultimate good.
