The measure of His love for us increases when we consider our unworthiness. We deserve divine punishment, not divine sacrifice. Our debt is so great, only a divine sacrifice could pay it.
There is only one explanation for God’s sacrifice for us. It is not us. It is “the riches of His grace” (Ephesians 1:7). It is all free. It is not a response to our worth. It is the overflow of His infinite worth. In fact, that is what divine love is in the end: a passion to enthrall undeserving sinners, at great cost, with what will make us supremely happy forever–

Amazing – the riches of God’s grace are beyond our comprehension, but sometimes we don’t even try that hard to comprehend them, because we’re too busy. So I’m thankful for this post. I hope it will help me today to think on the infinite grace of my God who made an infinitely loving sacrifice so that I could be delivered from His wrath and satisfied by His infinite beauty forever. Oh how sweet, how very sweet, is divine grace!
