With Jim and Anne Ryun
On Saturday, we headed to the Phill Kline headquarters to pick up the literature to give out door-to-door. At about 1 pm, we went to Manhattan to give out material there, too. After getting our volunteer assignments for the rally at the GOP headquarters, we were back at the Ryun headquarters by 8 pm, then we phone banked (mass calling) for a little over an hour.
Now you have to understand something about the 2nd floor of Ryun’s headquarters where we phone banked. The first floor was really nice. But the 2nd floor…well…..was a different story. Unfinished, yes, definitely unfinished. Most of us made calls up there, and the funny part is what we used for booths. Cardboard boxes, you know the big kind, taped to make two walls on either side. Kinda creative and different, but it worked!! :-)

Making my first very nervous call
On Sunday, we headed to Ryun’s headquarters to have a short devotion, and to pick up the literature we planned to drop at nearby churches that morning. While we were waiting for the literature, some of the guys killed time by drawing beards and mustaches on tape and putting them one another! :-)

After dropping the literature at the churches, we headed to the Expocentre, where the rally was held, for a meeting for volunteers. We left the Expocentre, but had to be back by 2 pm.
I worked with the press, escorting them to their proper places, and just watching for possible problem-causers! :-) It was SO fun! I got to just walk around anywhere, and talk to the Secret Service guys, and generally just feel important! :-) The whole rally was great!

President Bush!!!! It was SO much fun seeing him! His schedule was really tight I heard, so he didn’t have very much time to stay and shake hands after his speech, but I was about two feet away from the gate where he walked out! It was really awesome!

And, oh, the ones with the beards and moustaches are hilarious! And I loved your cardboard box station. Very creative. I would have been nervous making those calls, too, but it sure sounds like fun!
Thank you for your comment on my blog. I enjoyed hearing from you and I’ve enjoyed visiting your blog, too. I really enjoyed reading your profile. It was a blessing.
